River Fishing

The main thing that stands out in Jacksonville is the St. John’s River. What a wonderful resource we have at our disposal. The St. John’s River is so long that it gives the option of both saltwater and freshwater fishing. Closer to the Atlantic Ocean you can expect Trout, Redfish, Spanish Mackerel, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Flounder and a wide variety of other Inshore saltwater fish. As the river turns from brackish to fresh, Specks (Crappie), Largemouth Bass, and Catfish can be found. There’s really a lot to offer for anyone who love’s fishing in Jacksonville!

Check out the list of fishing spots on the St. John’s River that I’ve compiled.

Pond Fishing

If you’re anything like, you look at any body of water and say to yourself, “Oh ya, there’s a fish in there!”  No matter where you drive around Jacksonville you can expect to run across a pond that may contain fish.  From an FWC management area like Pope Duval to a retention pond in your neighborhood, any kind of pond fishing in Jacksonville could provide a good day of fishing.

Bridge Fishing

With the St. John’s River, Intracoastal Waterway, and ever tributary and feeder creek in between, there has to be a method for traffic to pass over.  Well, this provides access to some of us who fish in Jacksonville without a boat one more opportunity to access some good fishing.
